Rowers Bronte Marshall (NSW), Julia Story (NSW), MacIntyre Russell (QLD), Aaron Skinner (VIC) will proudly don the green and gold after being named to represent Australia at the Virtus Global Games in France from June 4-10.

These talented athletes will form part of a 121-strong Australian team that will compete against more than 1000 athletes from over 50 countries in Vichy from June 4-10. Michael Russell from The University of Queensland Boat Club will travel with the team as a coach, and Kathleen Hextell from Drummoyne will form an integral part of the team as cox/coach.

As the second-largest contingent after host nation France, the Australian team is expected to perform exceptionally well at the Games. Australia has a history of high achievement at the Global Games, having topped the medal count in every event except the first in Sweden in 2004, where the team finished second.

Rowing Australia congratulates these athletes on their selection for the Global Games. The Games, which are held in the year preceding the Paralympic Games, have become a stepping stone for Paralympic success in Olympic years.

The Virtus Global Games are the world’s largest elite sports event for athletes with an intellectual impairment, and this is a fantastic opportunity for our athletes to showcase their talents on a global stage. We are confident that this experience will be invaluable for our athletes as they continue to develop their skills and pursue their sporting careers. We wish our rowers and the entire Australian team the very best of luck at the Games.
