The Confederation of Australian Sport (CAS) has welcomed the Australian Government’s announcement of a record $513 million investment in Australia’s high-performance sporting system, describing it as an important commitment to the future of Australian sport.

The funding package will provide support for athletes, coaches, officials and sporting organisations as Australia builds towards the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Brisbane 2032 and beyond.

The investment includes continued direct athlete support through the dAIS program, expanded funding for Winter sports, ongoing investment in Para sport initiatives and funding for 68 high-performance programs across the country.

CAS CEO Rob Bradley said the announcement reinforces the value of sustained investment in the systems and people that underpin sporting success.

“Strong sporting outcomes are built on strong sporting systems,” Bradley said.

“This investment provides certainty for athletes, coaches and organisations while strengthening the pathways that support participation and performance across Australia.”

CAS welcomed the continued focus on Para sport development, with the Para Uplift program continuing to create new opportunities for athletes with disability, while investment in coaching, leadership development and workforce capability will help ensure Australian sport remains competitive on the global stage.

The funding package also extends support for the Women Leaders in Sport program and includes targeted investment for Winter sports ahead of the French Alps 2030 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

As the peak body representing Australia’s national sporting organisations and the broader sport sector, CAS supports initiatives that strengthen the sporting ecosystem and create long-term opportunities for athletes, administrators, officials and volunteers.

CAS congratulates the Australian Government, Minister for Sport Anika Wells, the Australian Sports Commission and Australia’s sporting organisations on this significant investment in the future of Australian sport.
