The Confederation of Australian Sport (CAS) is delighted to congratulate President and Chair, Ned Coten AM, on being recognised in the 2026 King’s Birthday Honours List.
The appointment of Ned as a Member of the Order of Australia recognises his outstanding contribution to sport, leadership and governance over many decades.
A former Australian representative basketball player and one of the country’s most respected sporting administrators, Ned has dedicated much of his professional and personal life to advancing sport in Australia. His extensive experience spans the commercial, technology, governance and not-for-profit sectors, where he has consistently championed innovation, strategic thinking and strong leadership.
Since being elected President of CAS in 2022, Ned has played a key role in guiding the organisation’s strategic direction and strengthening its advocacy for community sport across Australia.
Ned brings more than two decades of board and executive leadership experience, including serving as Chair of Basketball Australia, Chair of The Contenders Advisory Board and Chair of the Refbook Advisory Board. He is also the Chief Executive Officer and major shareholder of EngageRM, a technology platform servicing clients across Australia, the United States and the United Kingdom.
His previous executive roles include Managing Director of Acorn Brand Strategy and Chief Executive Officer of both the Victoria Titans and Adelaide Force FC.
Ned’s sporting credentials are equally impressive. He represented Australia at the 1983 Under-20 World Basketball Championship, competed in the National Basketball League with the Perth Wildcats and North Melbourne Giants, and has also played senior-level football.
He holds a Master of Business Administration from the Australian Graduate School of Management and is widely recognised for his expertise in strategy, governance, technology and organisational change.
CAS Chief Executive Officer Rob Bradley said the recognition was a fitting acknowledgement of Ned’s lifelong contribution to Australian sport.
“Ned’s leadership, vision and commitment to sport have had a significant impact across multiple levels of the sporting landscape. This honour recognises not only his achievements, but also the countless hours he has dedicated to supporting organisations, athletes and communities throughout his career.”
“On behalf of the CAS Board, member organisations and staff, we congratulate Ned on this outstanding and well-deserved recognition.”
CAS also congratulates all sporting administrators, athletes, coaches, officials and volunteers recognised in the 2026 King’s Birthday Honours List. Their dedication and service continue to strengthen Australian sport and create lasting benefits for communities across the nation.
