Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt formally launched the Australian Government’s National Preventive Health Strategy earlier today 13 December 2021.

The launch marks a new beginning for disease prevention and better health for all Australians and will help secure our health, economic and social wellbeing in response to the pandemic and a range of underlying chronic disease and health challenges we all face.

“CAS applauds the release of the National Preventive Health Strategy 2021-2030 along with the target to increase funding for preventive health to 5 per cent of the total health budget,” says CAS CEO Rob Bradley. “Increasing physical activity which contributes to both physical health and mental wellbeing is included as one of seven Focus Areas within the strategy.”

CAS looks forward to supporting the roll-out of the National Preventive Health Strategy and to working with public health professionals, kindred organisations and the wider health community towards its successful implementation.
