The upcoming 2023 Australian Junior Squash Championships are generating great anticipation as Australia’s top under 19 players gear up to compete in one of the most significant events on the national squash calendar. Held in Brisbane later this year, the week-long tournament will take place at the esteemed Daisy Hill Squash & Racquet Club, and Logan City Council proudly lends its support.

The competition will feature individual contests spanning various age categories, starting from the under 11s and culminating in the highly prestigious under 19 division. From September 26 to 28, the individual event will showcase the immense talent and skills of the participating young athletes. Following this, from September 29 to October 1, the focus will shift to the state and territory-nominated teams event.

“The Australian Junior Squash Championships has a long and storied history dating back to the 1950s and another chapter will be written at Daisy Hill later this year,” said Robert Donaghue, Squash Australia CEO. “Some of the greatest names in Australian squash have tasted success at the tournament including Michelle Martin, Geoff Hunt, Sarah Fiitzgerald, Rachael and Natalie Grinham, David Palmer and Chris Dittmar, to name just a handful.

“It’s a big year for junior squash in Australia with Melbourne hosting the World Junior Championships in July, but we’re already excited to get up to the City of Logan in September for some great action on the court and some just as good local hospitality off of it.”

City of Logan Mayor Darren Power is looking forward to welcoming players, coaches, parents and families from all across Australia for the prestigious event.

“Logan has a passionate and dedicated squash community,” Cr Power said. “The Australian Junior Squash Championships are a fantastic opportunity for emerging junior talent to shine on the national stage.

“We look forward to hosting Australia’s best junior squash players later this year.”

Entries for the 2023 Australian Junior Squash Championships are scheduled to open three months prior to the event, in late June. This allows ample time for aspiring young athletes and their teams to prepare and register for the tournament, ensuring a high level of competition and a thrilling showcase of talent.

As the countdown begins for this highly anticipated event, all eyes turn to Brisbane, where the Australian Junior Squash Championships promise to deliver exhilarating matches, fierce competition, and unforgettable moments of sporting excellence.
