The World Masters Games Organising Committee is pleased to announce the appointment of Nathan Bennett as Chief Executive Officer of the World Masters Games Perth 2029, which will be hosted in Perth, Western Australia.

Currently serving as CEO of the Perth Festival, Bennett brings nearly a decade of executive leadership experience in delivering large-scale, complex events that bring together communities, celebrate culture, and drive economic impact. Having successfully delivered the Perth Festival for nearly 350,000 attendees earlier this year; Bennett will officially commence his new role in January 2026.

Bennett has led the Perth Festival since 2017 and is widely respected for his visionary leadership, strategic foresight, and collaborative style. His appointment marks an exciting new chapter for the World Masters Games as preparations ramp up toward welcoming more than 30,000 athletes from around the globe in October 2029.

“I’m thrilled to be given an opportunity to lead the World Masters Games and bring this extraordinary global event to Perth,” Bennett said. “The Games will showcase our city on the world stage; welcoming tens of thousands of international athletes and visitors, and delivering a major boost to local sport, tourism, and community pride. It’s a once-in-a-generation opportunity to inspire lifelong participation in sport and create a legacy that lasts well beyond the closing ceremony. I really can’t wait to get started.”

The World Masters Games is the largest multi-sport event in the world for athletes aged 30 and above, promoting lifelong participation in sport and active living. The 2029 edition will mark the first time the Games return to Australia since 2009 and will be delivered thanks to the support of Tourism Western Australia and the Federal Government.

Perth to host the 2029 WMG
