The Confederation of Australian Sport acknowledges the Australian Government’s ongoing commitment to women in sport, as demonstrated by Minister for Sport The Hon. Anika Wells’ visit to the FIA Girls on Track program at the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix.

Now in its fourth year, the FIA Motorsport Australia Girls on Track Career Development and Mentoring Program provides young women aged 16-22 with invaluable exposure to the motorsport industry. This initiative continues to create real-world opportunities, with two 2024 participants securing internships with the Kick Sauber F1 Team for the duration of the Grand Prix.

During her visit, Minister Wells met with interns Angelique Vitale and Tyra Lawler-Cass to discuss the importance of increasing female participation in motorsport and the positive impact of programs like Girls on Track in creating career pathways for young women.

Motorsport Australia, in partnership with the Australian Sports Commission, remains committed to expanding opportunities for aspiring female motorsport professionals, ensuring initiatives like FIA Girls on Track continue to be a driving force for change.

The Confederation of Australian Sport applauds this commitment to gender equality in sport and looks forward to seeing continued progress in motorsport and beyond.
