The Australian Sports Commission has a new-look board, following an open national recruitment process.
The Albanese Government has made five appointments to the Australian Sports Commission board, including Olympian Lydia Williams. These critical appointments come as the Commission enters a defining period for Australian sport: the leadup to the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Led by Kate Jenkins AO as Chair of the Commission, Nick Green OAM OLY has been appointed as Deputy Chair, and new members Selwyn Button, Dr Chloë Flutter, Andrew Purchas OAM and Lydia Williams OLY joining the Board. Lynne Anderson has also been reappointed to continue her contribution to Australian sport.
Nick Green is a dual Olympic rowing gold medallist and senior executive, former CEO of Cycling Australia, Director of the Australian Olympic Committee and Commonwealth Games Australia and was Chef de Mission of the 2012 Australian Olympic Team. Lynne Anderson is a senior sport administrator, formerly as CEO of Paralympics Australia, a member of Sport Integrity Australia’s Advisory Council and Chair of the Bulldogs Rugby League Club.
Selwyn Button is a Gungarri man from Southwest Queensland, an experienced leader of health, education, and governance organisations, and currently an Indigenous Policy Evaluation Commissioner at the Productivity Commission.
Chloë Flutter is a former Australian squad swimmer, Swimming Australia Board member and senior strategy and business transformation consultant with Boston Consulting Group. Andrew Purchas is a former Vice President of ACON Health, an experienced senior executive in legal and financial services and champion of diversity in sport including as Chair of the Advisory Committee of Pride in Sport, founder of the Sydney Convicts Rugby Club and was President of the Bingham Cup Sydney 2014. Lydia Williams is a Noongar woman from the south-west of Western Australia, a highly decorated Matildas goalkeeper and long-standing advocate for player rights and equality for women’s football.
