The ACT Government has committed more than $4.2 million to community sport and active recreation through the latest round of its Sport and Recreation Investment Scheme.

The funding will support 44 not-for-profit organisations across Canberra, delivering upgrades to sporting facilities, strengthening club capability, and improving access to participation opportunities.

The Scheme includes four key funding streams:

  • Community sport facilities and infrastructure upgrades
  • Club development, equipment and workforce capability
  • State sporting organisation support
  • Industry partnerships to drive innovation and collaboration

Projects funded in this round include facility improvements, lighting upgrades, sustainability initiatives and coach and official development, ensuring clubs can meet growing participation demand.

ACT Minister for Sport and Recreation Yvette Berry said the investment will help ensure sport and recreation remains accessible, inclusive and sustainable.

From a sector perspective, the investment highlights the critical role of government funding in strengthening grassroots sport, supporting participation growth, and improving community health and connection.

The initiative aligns with the ACT’s CBR Next Move strategy, reinforcing sport and active recreation as key drivers of active communities and long-term wellbeing.
