The Confederation of Australian Sport (CAS) welcomes the Federal Government’s commitment to funding key infrastructure, transport, and grassroots sporting initiatives in preparation for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. This investment not only ensures the successful delivery of the Games but also guarantees a long-term sporting and economic legacy for Australia.

A Transformational Plan for Sport and Community

The 2032 Delivery Plan outlines a $7.1 billion capital works program designed to create world-class sporting facilities, transport networks, and lasting community benefits. CAS commends the government’s approach to spreading the impact beyond Brisbane, ensuring that the Games’ benefits are felt across Queensland’s cities and regions.

Key investments include:

  • A new Brisbane Stadium at Victoria Park, forming part of a world-class Games precinct.
  • A National Aquatic Centre at Spring Hill, transforming the Centenary Pool site.
  • Upgrades to the Queensland Tennis Centre, Chandler Sporting Precinct, and RNA Showgrounds.
  • Expansion of regional sporting facilities, including rowing infrastructure on the Fitzroy River and an Equestrian Centre of Excellence in Toowoomba.

Legacy Beyond 2032: Sport for All Australians

The $250 million Games On! initiative will provide much-needed funding for grassroots sporting clubs across Queensland, supporting community participation and future elite athletes. This commitment aligns with CAS’s mission to promote sport for all Australians, ensuring greater access to facilities and programs beyond the Games.

Additionally, the government’s investment in transport infrastructure, including faster rail, new bus corridors, and critical highway upgrades, will enhance connectivity, allowing for smoother access to sporting venues and long-term economic growth.

A Golden Opportunity for Australian Sport

CAS believes that the Brisbane 2032 Games present a once-in-a-generation opportunity to elevate Australia’s global sporting presence, inspire future champions, and strengthen grassroots sport. The commitment to high-performance sport, community participation, and legacy infrastructure ensures that the Games’ benefits will extend well beyond the closing ceremony.

As we move closer to 2032, CAS will continue to advocate for policies and programs that maximize participation, inclusion, and the long-term impact of this historic event.
